Five Star Iris
They're good. They are up and coming. I went to high school with two of them! It's good to see someone I liked (well, I liked Robert, but Alan was an obnoxious prat at the time...around, oh, twenty years ago...Good God) doing well. They've sent this email out:
We need your help....
---------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
Something really cool happened for us this weekend, and we could really use your help to spread the word. There's a very cool new website called Webcastr that is quickly becoming the coolest Internet TV video site around. They picked up on our upcoming Fuse On Demand special from Guantanamo Bay (which starts airing this Monday 5/5), and this weekend we're part of their Webcastr Music Weekend. This is huge, because we're featured with no less than EDDIE VEDDER and STEVE MILLER!
All we're asking you to do is pass these links around to all your friends - people who like us, Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam, Steve Miller, or people you know that you want to turn on to a site with some very exclusive video content. Just tell them to go to Webcastr at www.webcastr.com and watch our video (and the others too). Even if you've already seen it, we're trying to drive people there to thank them for supporting us, and there's more to come.
Thanks and have a great weekend,
Alan, Alex, Rob & Dan
Webcastr Music Weekend!
All this weekend, webcastr.com will be presenting special music video programs
including some exclusive material from some of the biggest names in rock.
( Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder for the Kelly Slater Foundation )
( Steve Miller Band: Live From Chicago )
( Five Star Iris Live From Guantanamo Bay )
They really are good. Check them out.

alternate title "The Jones' Go to A Party".
The smaller Jones' were hanging out in the kitchen, enjoying tall and imposing Mr Troy's company and begging cake batter and icing covered spoons in the meanwhile. While The Girl was busy devouring said goodies and falling head over heels in love with Mr Troy, Cullen noticed that there was an unlit cigarette dangling from Mr Troy's lip. Very matter-of-factly, Cullen told him "You know, those work better when you light them."
Oh, and he gave me permission to have a cigarette, too, as long as I didn't make a habit of it.

We apparently have a Torchwood here in Florida. There's no Jack or Ianto, tho. Unless, of course, you count the small, fleshy, aromatic fruit.
Torchwood (Amyris elemifera)
Torchwood, also called sea amyris, grows as a large shrub or tree in tropical and coastal hammocks in Florida including the Keys, Bahamas, West Indies, and Central America. In Florida, torchwood is found on the west coast only in south Florida but on the east coast, it grows as far north as Flagler County.
Torchwood is in the Rutaceae family which includes the genus Citrus known for its citrus fruits and the genus Amyris, of which torchwood is a member, known for its resinous, fragrant juices. The
Twigs and leaves
very resinous wood of torchwood is used for fuel and the resinous branches make excellent torches, hence the common name. The species name, elemifera, is Greek for resin-bearing. Oils from the wood have some medicinal use.
In Florida, torchwood is highly valued because it is the primary food source for the rare and endangered, beautiful Schaus swallowtail butterfly. The attractive foliage and fragrant flowers of the torchwood entice many types of birds to eat the small, fleshy, aromatic fruit.

So, CK is doing a radio tour to promote his new major label release. I found out about it this morning, and checked out the schedule. He was due to be in JAX TODAY. AT 10 AM. IT WAS 950. God bless my boss, she took one look at me and said "Take your lunch break. Call if you'll be more than 2 hours." I hauled ass to the radio station. They were surprised, and kept asking how I knew he was there, that they didn't release that info. I wanted to smack them all upside the head, a la Jethro Gibbs on NCIS. How did I know? I'm on the street team, I'm on the mailing lists, and I have him as a friend on My Space. D-U-UH.
I got to go into the room where they were doing the interview. He sang three songs, accompanied by a lovely young man named Brian (his last name began with an H. If anyone of the diehards out there know his name, please tell me!)
More Than I Deserve, Luckenbach, TX, and I don't remember the first one. I was totally high on life at that moment. Really. I was the only fan there; everyone else worked for the radio station! Man, it was incredible. Wonderful. Amazing.
He signed a promo picture for me, signed my Kane cd, and I got the picture. I took a couple of photos on my cell phone. If they turn out okay I'll post those, too.
Why can't all Mondays be like this one??????????????

David: Pirates are better than ninjas.
Mae: They have cooler clothes.
David: Well, that, and it's really hard to be drunk when you're a ninja. There's no trouble whatsoever in being drunk while you're a pirate.
That makes sense.

Reading the Torchwood Captain's Logs on BBC America website. This is very funny.
Other issues: Apparently, there are still people who pay money to have the Crazy Frog ringtone on their phone. And I thought I'd seen the worst the universe has to offer.
Capt. Jack Harkness.

You know that inflation and recession have hit when a 6-pack of ramen noodles now costs over a dollar.
In other news, yesterday my son woke up with a little morning action going on 'down there'. Normal for an 8 year old, sure, but what he did was not. He stood up with his hands held out and said loudly "Behold! The power of my penis!"
Just another day at the Jones'.

I've been lax in posting.
Not going to make it up now. I stole this from

It's time to share your pride!
No need to dim your shine, it's just me, and I'm asking you to tell me about the story you're most proud of, with links so others can read it too if you're comfortable sharing. A paragraph that you wrote and think is amazing, and hey, copy pasting that here would be awesome. If you're not a writer, tell me about an icon you made that came out well, a graphic or a website you built. Tell me about the kick ass cards you make, that you've painted your walls at home and they look fab. The shelves you made out of breeze blocks and planks.
My fave? I dearly love my Angel the Series WIP Not Hopeless, even though it isn't finished and is full of ANGST. I also love Alternate Ending, an AU (or missing scene, depending on your POV) for the end of the series. Especially Alternate Ending. I read that one and it makes me happy to know that I'm the one that wrote it.
But now I want to know about you. So no hiding your light. Be proud.

It's been a full couple of days in the Jones' house. I have a doozy of a kidney infection that almost sent me to the hospital. My fever (around 103 for two full days) has thankfully broken, the antibiotics are working, and the pain pills are a Godsend. That was bad and more than a little scary.
Now, I can crow.
Mr Jones is a hero! He was on his way to Valdosta on a call, when he saw a minivan swerve in front of a semi pulling a flatbed filled with rebar. The truck driver, bless his heart, swerved to avoid plowing into the van, jackknifed, and consequently rolled his semi. Twice. Rebar went every where, cars were slamming on breaks, he said there was even screaming. I can only imagine. A few of you know that he was a corpsman in the Navy, and, since he wasn't going anywhere until they could clean up the rebar, he jumped out of the work van and said "I'm a medic! I can help!"
He and two other men ran to the cab of the truck to find the driver pinned by chains that had been stored behind his seat. Big chains, the kind they use to hold things down on the bed with. (Why they were stored there, I don't know. I bet they don't get stored there, anymore.) As Dave holds the mans head steady, the other two start to try to pull the chains off of him. It's at this point that one of the guys by the minivan starts waving and shouting. Dave looks up: the truck is on fire. So, one guy pulls the chains, the other pulls the seat, and Dave pulls the man out of the truck.
He had bloody arms and clothes, but he went to the branch and cleaned up, then did his job. Total professional. He rocks.

Never a dull moment with the Jones'.
